Die Frage ist sehr allgemein formuliert. Meinst Du die Zeitenfolge im If-Satz oder den If-Satz an sich ?

IF Typ I: Erfüllbare Bedingung
Wenn eine Bedingung realistisch und erfüllbar ist, benutzt man im if-clause das simple present, im Haupsatz das will-future:

If I do my homework every day, I will pass the test.
He will goto the dance lesson if you join him.

Typ II: Unwahrscheinliche order nicht erfüllbare Bedingung
Wenn eine Bedingung unrealistisch ist oder nicht den Tatschen entspricht, benutzt man im If-Clause das simple past, im Hauptsatz das conditional; (z.b. would, had, were etc.)

If you weren’t so mean all the time, I would help you.
She would buy more clothes if she had the money.

Typ III: Unmögliche Bedingung
Diesen Typ verwendet man, wenn eine Bedingung nicht erfüllt warden kann, weil sie sich auf die Vergangenheit bezieht. Im if-clause steht das past perfect, im Hauptsatz das conditional perfect: (would have, could have should have (not) etc.

If I had knownyou then, I would have married you.
We wouldn’t have had cramps if we hadn’t eaten so much.
